I saw "Kevinsdriftboat" posted this on the main forum- just thought I'd relay it over here.

"Swallowing or inhaling water droplets should be avoided, as well as skin contact with water by humans or animals.

Drinking water from Detroit Lake Reservoir is especially dangerous"

We had reservations there this weekend but found this out last night. Heading down to the Eugene area to fish dexter and surrounding area. Looks like we are out $50 for the reservations though.

I dont think you have to worry too much. Just know the areas of the bloom, and stay away. wash hands, take a shower, etc.
Someone else may know more.

The link doesn't work.

I have reserved 2 sites for a camping trip with some buddies next weekend for a bachelor party

Maybe want to do some fishing/skiing

Will it be over by then?

I got reservations for the 8th thru 11th. NOW WHAT? I have until Tuesday to cancel reservations without to much loss of $$$. :passout:

Timothy Lake isn't to far from Detroit, could head over their.

I was out last night fishing Detroit......no wonder there were only 3 trailers in the parking lot. I noticed the algea bloom but didn't think nothing about it. Caught a few but mainly was running around with my daughters learning all the quirks of my new/used sled. Good thing I didn't let them swim!!

Here is a link where you can look up information about the bloom. It also shows other places that have been CLOSED due to the bloom.

The "Bloom Offical" guy I talked with yesterday said...
Detroit Lake posted closed because the algea bloom exceded the safety threshold. They will continue to re-test frequently. ONCE the algea level goes below the threshold THEN the closure will be lifted TWO WEEKS after that testing date.

We were heading up there with our grandkids on Saturday for a 10 day stay. Instead we are going to Newport and traveling south to the Redwoods.

I have other reservations at Detroit. I sure hope it turns around soon.

Our neighborhood camp out is at Detroit this coming weekend the 8th and 9th - looks like we will be doing a catch and release trip, or I may just bag trout and go deep after the nookies.

I usually don't fish the arms effected but it kind of puts a damper on the event
