Hello. i was wondering if anyone had any tips for Silver lake. i'm taking my 6 year old daughter there this summer and just planned on using regular worms and bobbers. I just want to keep her busy fishing and catching. Any information would be appreciated very much. Please pm me if you don't want to post it. I'm also looking for a decent spot to fish. I'd imagine the lilly pad areas would be best, but i'm not sure. I haven't fished silver lake in 25 years and I used worms off the bottom and caught huge carp. Thans in advanced,

I wouldnt take your daughter there. Silver lake isnt a lake to take a youngster to. The fishing isnt that great and your kid will be dissapointed. I would look to go somewhere else. Sorry for the bad news

no way, silver lake is a awesome lake for kids!!! more pan fish than they will know what to do with. a bobber and worm would be excellent. i would also suggest the smallest green gitzit jigs you can find for panfish. they work awesome for crappie, i like to just cast them out and reel in slow. they are also really good on a bobber. try to keep them moving really slow, i always catch more crappie this way. if you want to target perch tip the jig with a worm and fish it without a bobber. the canals should keep you into a lot of fish. i havent been to silver in about a month so im not sure if they are done spawning there yet or not. maybe somebody else could help with that. i will pm you some of my favorite spots. good luck!

I am riding with tnj8222. I used to throw a gitzit pumpkin color with a little tinsel hanging out the back while my daughter just towed a worm and bobber behind the boat. She caught a couple of nice bass. The thing I have found about fishing with kids is let them do their own thing if they want to play with the worms or whatever its all about fun for them too no matter what it is.

Well, I hope you are talking about Silver Lake in Cowlitz Co......
TNJ is RIGHT!!!! TAKE YOUR KID TO SILVER!!!!! I'm in my 30's and my dad started taking me to Silver when I was around 5 and I've fished there every year since and now I'm taking my daughter. Silver is full of all kinds of fish. You don't need a bunch of fancy gear to catch fish. If you are targeting specific fish, than that is another story. BUT, at your kids age who cares what type of fish you catch....just take her fishing! You'll catch something with worm and bobber. Try different depths and stick around pillings or the pads. Move around a little if you're not getting bites. HAVE FUN! Oh yeah, remember, there is a size/amount limit on crappie.
