I have a Sears game fisher 2 stroke 7.5 hp motor of unknown age and am looking for somebody that knows something about these little motors and who may be willing to help me get it running. It did run about 5 years ago and has been sitting ever since.

If you have any mechanical skills you can do a couple of things yourself first. You need to have a water barrel to run it in (a trash can works), fill it up to cover the water intake. Pull the plugs, go to NAPA and get a new set and while you're there grab a can of "Deep Creep". Spray the DC into the carb and into the cylinders, give it 5 or so good pulls, then repeat. Spray some WD-40 up under the flywheel and spin some more. On the carb there should be a screw on top, screw it all the way down then back it off 1 1/2 turns. Gap and install you new plugs, hook up to fresh gas/oil and give it a try. If it starts, and it pumps water, you can go ahead and do a decarb on the engine with the Deep Creep. Let it warm up, then while it is running spray DC into the carb until the engine almost stalls. Shut it off and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Fire it back up, it will really smoke, let it clear off and then repeat. You'll be amazed at how nasty the water in your barrel will get doing this. Good luck, don't be surprised if it does not pump water, the impeller may be no good after sitting. Not a tough job if you can find the part, but you might want a manual to look at. Google you engine, you should find more information. It's real similar to the old Crysler engines of the same vintage.

I pulled the plug and cleaned it up and got it fired up but am not getting water out. This appears to be a early to mid 70's Sears Game fisher, It only has forward and neutral, Is there a chance it is air cooled?? I put it on the back or my boat and ran it in the river for about a hour and it still works, but still doesnt spit water like my main motor.

Is there a chance it is air cooled?? Hi djchaser, Your Gamefisher is water-cooled, I believe. I think that 3hp was their biggest air-cooled model. A very simple little motor. You might be able to get your parts here. http://www3.sears.com/ and info here http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27

If that's the same as an "Eska" it's air cooled. Look at the cylinder to see if it has fins, or fan vanes on the flywheel.

I had an Eska (mostly white), and a Sears (green &white) and they were both the same under the cowling. The Eska ran for what seemed like for ever, 'till I sold it with a little 11' car topper boat I had. The Sears shift mech. broke and I gave that one away.

Noisy, smokey motors, if it's air cooled!

Plug, as in one? Don't know if a single cylinder would really be 7.5 hp, my Chrysler 6 hp is a two cylinder and is water cooled. It will heat seize in about 10 minutes if it is not getting enough water. I think the fins on the flywheel may be a good indicator that it is air cooled. Does it have a pee hole? If yes try back flushing with a hose squirter, it may be just venting the exhaust water through the exhaust. But if it ran for an hour sounds like it is just fine. Oh, and I guess my 5.5 honda motor on my lawnmower is a single cylinder, so it is not much of a reach for a single cylinder to be a 7.5. Bet it is a noisy bugger!
