Another article from Bill Herzog. Some good ideas. Some strange ones.

So many variables so little time.

Read it and reply with your thoughts,

John

Yup, there's alot of good stuff! That's pretty much what I follow, including leader length and speed! Helped me alot, except last monday, can't win them all!

That's good news!!

Errr....maybe that's good...

Bill wrote a very good kokanee article in last years STS that I still continue to reference for my new wedding ring spinners and dodgers in various colors. So I had to go out and spend more money to replace some perfectly good kokanee gear and tackle just to try the tips from the article.

And now I can look forward to spending more money after reading this new article....oh great!! :help::cool:

So yah, uh... thanks for the heads up, I think.

I had lost interest in wedding rings until I read his article last year. Now I fish them more often. Thanks for the heads up...I think. ;)

informative article for trollers! Totally disagree with his jigging section though! With his description on how to jig, no wonder he gets so many foul hooked fish!

In what issue can I find the article. I looked at Fred Meyers the other day and it was not in the issue on the rack.

They come in the mail . Seriously, can't believe you aren't a subscriber. June/July issue. Should be on the stand soon.

Since I jig for kokes most of the time I was a little surprised at his attitude towards jigging. If I remember right he didn't spend much time covering it. But then I guess it is pretty simple......right? Have caught thousands of them(ok maybe hundreds) jigging and can only remember a handfull that were foul hooked. I am a novice at trolling for them with DR's and I'm having fun learning the tricks and his article was full of good things to try. I guess that is what's fun about kokanee. Trying different techniques in a beautiful mountain lake that's not crowded, lot's of fish, non stressed fisherman etc.. Doesn't get much better does it?

From what I read in Bill's first article on trolling for Kokanee in last years STS; he's still learning and hasn't perfected the variety in tackle or methods of kokanee fishing. So it would surprise me if anyone would consider him an expert at jigging since he really is only a novice with limited jigging experience (possibly only one season).

So I wouldn't put to much stock in Bill's articles, just compute that with what you already know to formulate your own opinion.

The latest issue is June/July ??? I'm guessing without the issue in front of me.

The kokanee article is listed in the lower part of the front cover.

I thought the article was ok, some tips that may prove to help or might not make a difference. He kind of comes off as arrogant and an elitist when he address his readers as boys and girls. Like he knows all and never has a slow day. He even admitted in his article he was skunked all day till he caught one fish. In other articles he refers to us readers as kids like he is the sage of all fishing in the NW. Maybe its just me but as a reader and buyer i like to have some respect.

Thats just his sense of humor. If you've seen his videos, you'll notice he can get a bit goofy at times, but in a good way.
Seems like a solid dude to me.

I used alot of the suggestions in last years article. I tied all my own wedding rings. I did pretty good with them, never did get to try the blue/purple deep though.

I did use a purple haze apex for the first time last year and was quite impressed. Am anxious to try the UV's next week at Paulina.

Thought the plug for Gulp! Corn was interesting. Will probably try it, however, I plan to rely on shoepeg and maggots.
