Any one have one of these. Looking at one with the 200 Optimax (twins)DFI. Any information pro or con on the engines would be appreciated. And any info on the boats preformance also. Year model is 2004,

Particullary interested in economy and performance of the engine. Thanks I will also search the archives.

Dad has the 23ft with single 200opti, fuel economy is within a gallon per hour at cruising speed of the same exact boat with a 225 honda.

Your research on Optimax engines will most likely prove to concerning. The early engines has serious problems, and those issues continued in the 02/03/04 years. Somewhere around 05 is seems like the bugs finally started working out.

If I remember correctly (and this may be wrong!) One of the big problems was fouling of plugs and the oxygen sensor. Once the sensor fouled the CPU would try to advance the timing since it would get an erroneous reading. You wouldn't know anything was wrong with the engine until the cpu couldn't keep advancing the timing and the timing was so out of whack it would blow a powerhead. Anyhow, something like that.

I can say that the value of twin optis a few years old is pretty minimal.

I have a 2005 175 Opti that has ran flawless for 2 years. No problems whatsoever.....Great throttle response, starting, quiet, very little fumes etc. :twocents:

Thanks for the response what has been your fuel consumption. I was interested in one that has twins opits that is for sale in Portland.
