I need a wiper on a least the driver side. Is there a kit where I can do it myself? Is this something I need to take to a shop?

In Portland, contact Stevens Marine. They will have a wiper motor, etc. It is fairly easy to install. Takes a drill, center punch to mark the spot to drill and some basic wiring. You can determine blade length by how the wiper arm centers on your windshield. Ones I have installed have been obtained from a boat manufacturer.

My Duckworth wiper motors are mounted in the corner of each window so they wipe a 90 degree curve which leaves quite a bit of window surface unwiped. I have seen other boats where the motor is mounted at the center below the window, I believe these wipers are referred to as "Parallel" wipers where the blade sweeps from side to side which allows a longer blade to cover more completely.

You can go to any boat dealer and buy these, I think the motor assembly and arm is about $200. I currently have just one on the drivers side but think it is a necessity to have both especially when out in poor conditions, that way your passengers can keep an eye out for trouble also. I will be adding one to the other side before winter hits again.

I work with a guy who installed his own wiper on his Weldcraft. He's not mechanically inclined, so I was surprised when he said it was a piece of cake.
Getting the geometry set up should be about 80% of the job. After that, it's just wiring.
