I have a nice humminbird fish finder and i just recently bought a 1977 17' foot seaswirl with a 125hp engine. I am wondering how to attach the transducer to the boat. Is it ok to screw it straight into the boat or what? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Kris

There are some plates availiable to attach to your transom that work well . That way if you upgrade in the future not as many holes ... Being a glass boat you might try epoxying it to the inside of your hull, transducer pointed down . I dont know how well that works , but some guys have good luck with it . Temporarily attach it and cover with water inside hull and check before permanent installation... Good Luck :)

Assuming you have a transom mount transducer, that is certainly the simplest mounting location. You do need to make sure the height and angle are correct, and that there are no protrusions in the hull in front of the transducer location that would cause bubbles to pass over its surface. Absolutely make sure that your holes are properly sealed. Don't get it too near the engine or you can have interference. They really are pretty easy to install once you get past the "drill a hole in my boat!?" issue! Have fun.

Remember DO NOT USE SILICONE use either polysulphide or a polyurethane adhesive .If you are going to install then going boating rite away use polysulphide as it will skin up on contact with water.
Cabela sells a portable transducer mount that does not require putting any holes in the boat. It works fine on my boat.
