Fished the derby last weekend. Friday was nice and sunny with fish caught all over the lake. Saturday the bankies did good but it seemed like the boats, myself included, really had to work to find biters.
Sunday they were back on the bite.
My best fishing was around the bridge and the island. 1 oz weight at 16-30 pulls seemed to be the trick. I did notice the fish seemed to switch back and forth between green and red so if you aren't getting hits, change up.
I caught about 40% of the fish on one rod with an experimental wedding ring imitation I made. I used alternating black and clear sparkly beads with a willow leaf blade, six inches above that I added another willow leaf blade then 12" to my flashers.
If I was headed up this weekend, I would head for the island first.
