Have an oppurtunity to fish the high lakes for 4 days in early june. semi familiar with the area(crescent/odell). Never fished crane,wicki,east,paul..etc..etc. Looking to target macks and browns, have 20ft n.river mariner. Any help would be much appreciated. How about good camping with access to all those lakes? One more thing, any good stream fishing in this system? Something to do in the day when the lakes are blown out? Much thanks again.....Craig.:lurk:

Crescent is the only mack/brown lake. Wickiup, East and Paulina all have new state record browns swimming in them. By June its an early/late brown bite. East and Paulina don't get near the wind, especially in a 20 ft boat. For streams, try the Little Deschutes in La Pine, get a map and follow it. It enters the big Deschutes at Crosswater golf course just south of Sunriver. I've gotten some nice 16-18 inch browns out of there and they fight like demons. By mid June Cultus seems to have the most consistent mack fishing. No size limit for macks there. You will get 2-4 lb average size with the occasional 10.

for camping depending on if you need full hookup or not, i'd go to wickiup & camp on the davis arm off the high lakes hwy.that way you have access to all the lakes. good luck and have fun , Geoff
