Notice last couple of time out my speedometer not working, then noticed it would suddenly jump up the faster I went but would show speed 10 to 20 MPH slower than my fishfinder or GPS ... went to back of the boat and looked at the intake that hangs down, looks like I might have debris that got forced up into the intake hole ... any experience cleaning that out or should I just get a new one ??? Thanks.

It is probably clogged with something, unhook the hose on the back side and blow out with air where the hose was attached. You may also be able to stick a paper clip in the pickup hole and clear the hole out. Common problem with those when running in alot of alge or debris fill water, but a easy fix.

Those things are not particularly accurate also. I would just read speed off the GPS.

When that happens I just use a tourch tip cleaner and fish the trash out.

The air/water pressure speedo is not very accurate. The speed wheel on your fishfinder is more consistant, but all these guages are relative. The gps speed feature is speed on land not the speed on the water!
