View Full Version : 2003 Honda 9.9 water pump

I have an extra longshaft 9.9 Honda kicker. It is not cycling water. The case on the rear of the motor got warm quickly. I shut it down. It has been rinsed after every salt water voyage. It is a 2003 motor with very few hours. Any ideas? The intake screens appear clean.
Could be thewater pump has gone bad... but you might want to take the cowling/cap of the motor off and check the little hose that the water pump pumps the water out of. Believe it or not I have had spiders(or some web making bugs cause i didn't find the critter but the web) go in and plug both the hose lines in my Honda 90 and my Honda 9.9. The hose is pretty small in diameter. And they plugged them solid. I now put electrical tape over both outlets on the motors if I am going to be parked for more than a week or two with out using them. This probably is not your problem but it is easy to check and who knows. I live in the same town as you..... Good luck.
