How many of you guys with fish finders remove them when you trailer your boat? I just put a Lowrance X28C HD in my sled, and noticed it said not to use the cover in an open boat at highway speeds. I assume because it will blow off.

If you leave it in, other than worrying about someone stealing it if you stop somewhere, do you worry about them getting damaged by crap blowing around or just from the trailer bouncing down the road? Do you leave the cover on and just secure it with a rubber band or something?

If you take it out, do you store it in anything, so it doesn't get damaged banging around the car?

there are some nice aftermarket neoprene covers out there.

I learned the hardway!!! I Never take mine out except where I don't feel safe to leave it.. I have a 26c hd, ONE thing to remember is the LOWRANCE HD models are real sensitive! be careful if you take it out of the boat! I bought a pelican case to protect it when not in the boat..
Like I said I learned the HARD WAY!! it broke from just setting it on the workbench that little bit of a tap, from setting it down !

And My face cover started out tight.. thought now problem!! THEN one day it was just GONE!! I used velcro on the second one, and know seems OK! Wonderful Unit!!! I Love Mine! You will TOO!
