What kind of damage would i have if we layed this motor on its side for some time, this is with oil in the case...The story goes like this, the dealer that i bought it from had put it on a pallet, since my boat wasn't ready for it,anyhow i'm reading the manual lastnight and it says to drain the oil, never lay it on it's side with oil in the case, now on my yamaha it was ok as long as you layed it on the filter side, whats the differents???? should i pull the plugs before starting,or should i take it back to the dealer and wait another month before i get it.....your thought please...

Maybe they are afraid oil will get into the cylinders, or carbs. Ask the dealer how to proceed. Cranking it with the plugs out should do no harm.

Worst case scenario, it's going to be one smoky mother when you fire it off. There may be oil past the carburetors and on the outside of the engine, which would just need to be cleaned up.

better be safe and ship it to me. I'll inspect it and test it for the next 5 or 6 years and will report back to you if I discover any problems.

I'm sure it is F/I and does not have carbs. This might be the reason?
