I was fortunate enough this winter to be given an older sled by my grandfather. It is a probably twenty year old Gregor, with a older 115 Johnson jet, loaded on an EZ loader trailer that says is built for a 16-18' boat. My question is how much weight should be on the tongue? When I originally got it, the tongue was seemingly very light and felt as if it was bouncing on the tongue while towing. I have since moved it forward some and can still lift the tongue by myself if need be with some ease. Is this still to light in the tongue or what should I really look for? Any help is really appreciated.

Black, A good rule of thumb is that for every 1000lb. towing weight you should have 100lbs. tongue weight. A 3000lb. boat should have a minimum of 300 lbs on tongue. Sounds as though you need more tongue weight, from the sounds of it. images/icons/smile.gif

Hey if the trailer you have doesn't work out, I have a 1988 Alumiweld trailer for a 18/19' sled, for sale reasonable...new tires and jack...will discuss terms in private...Steve
