Can anyone recommend any good hike in lakes for a 'float-tuber' w/fly rod around Hood? I'm really looking for a lake with less pressure and a decent chance of hooking a trout. Thanks. MJ

There are many lakes up the Clakamas river. As a high schooler growing up in Estacada, I use to hike into Silver King lake up from Bagby hot springs. There were always lots of hungry bookies. I would get a map and Hennenions (sp?) guide to fishing in Oregon and go from there.

The "Fishing In Oregon" book is fantastic for researching these lakes too. My only fear about fishing these hike-in lakes (especially the ones off of Bagby) is finding my car broken into or gone when I get back.

Try Laurance lake.. This lake is a little out of the way and was closed last year to road construction.. This should have some nice fish in it this year.. It can get a little windy so bundle up..

Get "Fishing in Oregon" it is an awesome book for finding places like you are looking for.

Hey Fall River Guy, I think most of the hungry BOOKIES are in Las Vegas. images/icons/grin.gif

Michael,
Give Trout Lake a try on the reservation. It's a tiny lake with good camping that you can drive to. There are several lakes close by to hike into for some great fishing. Nothing large here, but can be some awesome dry fly action. Need a reservation fishing license which covers the whole family. Good Luck !

Michael - if you want to go a little more south I could suggest several lakes with a 2 to 5 mile hike. From Detroit to Hoodoo ski bowl there are lots of lakes flyfishable. Email me if interested.

The farther the hike the less doughballs you run into.
