Smelt options

Was unable to go dip any smelt on the Cowlitz. I bought some at a grocery store when the smelt were running and froze it. I just don't have enough to last the season. I refuse to pay the rediculous prices that G I Joes wants (about a buck a fish). What are my options. A friend said that once in a while you can find it in some stores. Any ideas?

It wasn't too long ago you could get a bucket full for nothing. Food-4-Less has smelt at times but it is getting late in the year.

The Copper River in Alaska has a run but I don't know when. I seem to remember it was in November.
