I'm planning on heading to the coast thursday night and crabbing Nehalem Bay Fri. I heard on Bill monroe's line that there was some sort of die off that ODFW was looking into. It was hard to hear on the recording whether it was a few crabs turning up dead or what. Does any one have any info?
Also, I usually don't start fishing the jaws and ocean there until mid-July or early August for Chinook. Are there any fishing opportunities now? is it open? chinook?... A guys got to do something while his pots are soaking...

Ripple:

From the rumours around town at appears that the Nehalem had a fairly strong run of anchovies and that a lot of them have been appearing dead on the bank. I know that there is a lot of small dead fish around and that the seagulls seem to be having a hay day.
As far as fishing goes I haven't talked to anybody who has fished recently but you might look for some perch around the Brighton area or soak a shrimp on the bottom and hope a sturgeon picks it up before a crab does.
