I've got some kids, age 11-12, that I would like to take shad fishing this weekend. Any fish being caught in the channel or at OC yet? Thanks.

It would be worth your while to go up to the garbage hole in OC and plunking your favorite shad goodie in about 16 feet of water right now. Pretty consistent action for the kids. It's pretty fun while you're waiting for the next salmon "wave" to roll in.

Roger that, kwikky, there are plenty of shad to be had in OC. I relocated a few from the Will river and fed them to the gators on Sunday (5/6). images/icons/cool.gif
Good luck, Hook'd, I hope you and the kids have a blast!

Hey that sounds like fun,
I have a couple of cub scouts to take fishing for their merit badges. I've never been to OC or the Garbage hole....
I have a boat and know how to use it. How do I get there?
Where can I launch from?
How will I recognize the Garbage hole and How do I get there.
Oh yea, wanna come along? images/icons/smile.gif

You can launch either from Meldrum Bar or from Clackamette, both giving you a short trip. Motor upstream `til you see a bunch of boats near the 205 bridge.
With multiple rods in the boat I like to have one bounced way back and the rest staggered in. Makes for fun when a school comes in.
