4 of 5 of my trailer tires have tire stem issues. The stems appear to be rotted. If you press them side to side you can see deep groves or cuts in the rubber. These tires / stems are less than 2 years old.

What gives?

Schwabby you got some 'splaining to do...

Any one else seen this before?

I noticed the same problem on my trailer when it was 9 months old (Rogue trailer, it's 11 months old now). Every valve stem shows cracks when bent a little.
Even the spare has the same problem, and it's never been used and has had a cover over it since it was new, so I can't blame my cracks on water dunking or UV exposure from sunlight.

Maybe it's a conspiracy to get us to spend more money on spare tires....

hey ID, my new Custom Weld came with the schwaby yellow envelope in the Glove Box and one would think that since they warranty those 5 tires on your Custom Weld it should include the valve stems. Never know till you ask. Pull that tub in front of one of their stores and see how fast they run out?

Easy to check for leaks, just look for bubbles on your next launch.

Well, I took 5 tires in to have them inspected and they offered to replace them for free. However, I asked if there was an alternative to rubber that won't have me back in the shop any time soon. The suggested metal stems.

Now I have these chrome stems on my ugly galvanized rims. Cool!
Thanks for the laugh 8salmon. How's the new CW boat doing for you? I'm thinking of hitting the Big C this weekend. Maybe bump into someone with as much class as me :D

ID,
I'll be sure to keep an eye on my valve stems. Yes, those 21 FT Custom Weld Storms are really classy boats. Just look for the Atlantic Blue (Ford Blue ) CW on the bic C this weekend, can't miss it. Will be off the mouth of the Kalama on Saturday and then on Sunday it will be Sand Island (St. Helens) sitting on the hook after the tide swings.
You better slap some shark hide on those chrome stems, you don't want to lose that shine! Use two coats!

I'll be at willow bar - 18 miles upriver.

Best of luck to you.
