Good morning Gentleman, I need some educated Help!

I have a 2001 Merc 15hp, four-stroke. At first it would not idle down. I was given a suggestion to adjust the gold screw on the carb and that seemed to work...for a week! Now, It can only be at idle and full speed! There is nothing in-between. When I throttle up, it will hesitate for a brief second and then the RPM's will jump to almost full throttle! Of course I immediately reverted back to the screw and put it back to its original position which just makes it more difficult to start it!

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance guys...have always appreciated your assistance and knowledge!

Get a new carb bowl gasket from the dealer, then open the carb and clean up the bowl and idle jet. She will run like new.

Get a can of "Deep Creep". Set up a barrel of water so you can start your engine. Warm up your engine for about 5 minutes. Pull the plugs, spray in DC, and pull the cord a few times. Replace plugs (I use new ones), fire that mother up. At about 2/3 throttle spray DC into carb until the motor almost dies. Shut down and wait 5 to 10 more minutes. Re-start and repeat the carb spray proceedure. Deep Creep is great, and safe in a 2 stroke. You'll clean up the carborator (somewhat, not like a full rebuild) and de-carbon the engine at the same time. Oh yeah, do this outside, it will be a "little" smokey!!!!!!! Like tell your neighbors not to call the fire department smokey. Just did this on my kicker that has not been run in about 5 years, fired right up.
