The Columbia has produced pretty well but sounds like it is closing up again. Willammette and Wind are not happening yet .... so what is the go to place for this week?????
Will the Willamette turn on finally?
Is the Wind ready to blow?
Will Draino begin to leak out some fish?
What do you think is ready to turn on and get hot?
I have had the Sturgeon gear in and out of the boat twice lately!
Trout....Kokanee?????
Work on the boat and get ready for????????
Drive up to Seattle and fish with BOATER???
Drive to Albany and work on Salmonators weak bottom???
Throw the porpoise out of my Northriver??????
Take the sport out of the sportjet????
Pick on R.T.????
Play with some GIZMO stuff???
Crabs????
Spend a weekend with the spouse?
All that said..... I think maybe there are still some Salmon out there.... Anybody want to suggest where????
I have been fortunate to catch some of them this year and think that maybe the Willamette will turn on this week if we fish a little different for them.
Troll up and down river....not anchor. Spinners and wrapped kwickfish as well as Herring and prawns. Fish deeper....30" or more and hold the rod to be sure you are on the bottom with 24 to 30 inch lead line. Use low and clear water tactics. If you don't back bounce.....put on a jumbo jet diver and get it to the bottom....if you do back bounce...large clusters of egg's......Amerman are the best!
That my 2 cents.....Yes I have caught fish!!!!
Now what is your forcast and advice for this weekend????

Ok Bill, my advice is to NOT work on my bottom and WHO says it is weak? images/icons/shocked.gif On second thought, could that be worse than fishing with boater? images/icons/grin.gif I say you should train your porpoise to locate the good schools for you. Maybe boaters porpoise can team up with yours and corral dem fishies behind your boats? I haven't seen anything in the regs to suggest this is illegal. I think we're on to something here...

They make diapers for weak bottoms. You wouldn't keep soiling your waders salmonator. images/icons/tongue.gif

What about catfish? Would like to find a good place to some Channel Cats. And I don't mean bullheads. Keep hearing stuff about the mouth of the John Day. Supposedly some in the Mult. channel. A little variety in your freezer is a good thing.

FH I know what you mean. I'm getting tired of eating springer. All they do is grease up your grill, make you sick to your stomach due to it's richness and its so tender it likes to fall apart. What a pain.... images/icons/grin.gif

Fish Hunter....Catfish are good. I have fished for them at the top of the John Day Arm and even more at Brownlee and in the Wild and Scenic part of the Snake...(Hell's Canyon). I think it's a all summer thing at the John Day.
Salmonator....I can show you some good ways to fix that Chinook so it is better for you and melts in your mouth!!!!
I know you are just being clever here!
Caught 2 below the John Day Dam on Sunday.
It ain't over yet!!!!!
And yes...you are correct.....every place I back the boat in......I do catch fish!!!!
Still trying to figure out where to back it in on the Willamette!!!???!!!

Fish Hunter,
Big, Big, Big Cats in the Snake river impoundments. We catch them all night long in the Hells Canyon and the Oxbow pool. Brownlee should be good too, but I don't fish that. I've caught stringers of channel cats there over 5 lbs and have fought some that were a lot bigger. Two years ago I fought one big cat up to the bank at the bridge below the Oxbow Dam. When I shined my headlight on him I was shocked. I kid you not, it was easily 20 + lbs. It's head was wider than my tackle box! Well, I pulled it up on the beach and it started croaking and rolling. Pretty soon it rolls over the line and SNAP, it slips back into the water with my line and my heart. I guess 17 lb test wasn't enough. Seriously, if you fish in the tailraces of the dams you never know what you are going to get. Huge cats and also some monster sturgeon that put the Bonneville oversized to shame. Good luck.

Thinking about going to Paulina Lake and trolling around for some Springer sized brown trout with the neighbor and his 13 year old son. Does anybody have any experience or suggestions about Paulina. Never been before but it might be a nice break from the crouds.

I can attest to Slutgoddess and his good fortune with springers. I fished with Bill for only a couple hours one afternoon as I met him for the first time and he landed a nice Springer. I hope we can do it again soon Bill.

Tanker Man,
you mentioned people not using the right size hearing. What size is working for you. I hear yellow for trolling whole and red for plug cut. What's your preference.
I've never hooked a springer near the channel. Are you trolling with the current or against. incomming, outgoing, low, or high slack tide. What is the formula.
