There are a huge number of people lurking on ifish, who don't contribute.
Can you imagine the wealth of knowledge that we would have here, if everyone contributed??? WOW!
Remember, in posting reports, no one expects you to give away your personal hot spot. (Hey, we'd like you to share it all, but if you are too afraid to do that, simply email me privately, all the details, and secret locations! jk jk images/icons/wink.gif)
Generalized area descriptions, what worked, what didn't, is what is probably the best route in communication here.
In private places, I share them as North Coastal rivers, or tidewaters, valley lakes, coastal lakes. I use non specifics. I have made mistakes in the past and have been made aware of it!
I try, after each trip to post what happened and aprox where. If I used a certain scent/lure/jig/bait that is no secret, but yet it worked, I'll use my judgement whether to post it, or spend one more day using it myself before I share it!
I have a few places reserved for family and close friends alone, but I am certain that some day I will show up at these spots and find they are no longer secret. Stuff happens.
Illustration and detail on how to fish or rig up for different fisheries help to get new people out on new water and more people to care, which means new people who may join forces with us to save our fish and rivers! Also more people to join us when we do volunteer projects.
I will always post where it was in popular fishing areas, ie: The lower columbia, westport, t bay, the wilson, etc... Maybe not which hole, but the area...
I find that sharing on this bb has given me more knowledge, and brought me tons of fishing friends. That alone is worth every thing I have ever shared, and I hope you find that too!
This BB is what we make it, and the contributors are the heros!
I was also thinking that if you go to a certain fishing spot and learn that there is alot of trash there, post it here. Alot of us have families who like to go for outings and clean up these areas, thus giving fishermen a better name, and getting the family involed in a worthwhile project.
