Has anyone used any sort of tiller extension for a Yamaha T-8. I have a T-8 on my 17x54 Willie drifter and would like to stand (or sit) further forward. I would love to find something that not only extends to the rowers seat, but also let me control the electric start too. That may be wishful thinking, though. Any suggestions?

They make a couple different types I have one for mine that is about 18" long. I have the type without the swivel they don't work very good for making a sharp turn because the longer the handle the more you have to reach to move the tiller.
The type with the swivel work much better in the aspect that you don't need to reach as far to make a turn. The swivel type are more expensive but if I had it to do again that is the one I would get.
The problem will be shifting in and out of gear. Maybe you can rig up some sort of lever extension to get it in and out of gear.

My T8 is mounted on my O/S bracket.I use a piece of appropriate sized PVC pipe. I slide it over the tiller grip and use a SS hose clamp to keep it on.
Not as fancy as some of the "factory" solutions, but it only cost about $5.

All of your major outdoor stores sell them, I used one my driftboat and it was great! I felt like a sea captain standing by the rower seat flying at 6mph across the lake, got no idea how you can work the e-starter though! The swivel one's have a push button sleeve that can swivel or you can make them fixed, I recomend you go that route, then you got the best of both worlds!

I've got the swivel type that I never use. First $10 takes it.
