The ODFW has placed a floating dock on the Willamette just below the falls. They have stickers on it saying "Anglers do not disturb". It showed up about a week ago. I cannot imagine what the ODFW would be doing with this approx. 8 ft by 8 ft dock about 10 feet off the bank. The only thing I can think of is it is a place for the sea lions to sleep. I really hope I am wrong. I wouldnt want our tax dollars going to making a comfy bed for the sea lions. images/icons/mad.gif
BTW - one steelhead caught this morning by another boat. Sea lions got 2 springers. Not much of a bite.

It might be a sea lion dock. I think they use them to get the sea lions used to the dock, then they can trap them, etc., so they can move them elsewhere. Better than just letting them swim around whacking fish.
Why don't they let the indians shoot them since 100 years ago they used the fat for oil and barbecued the rest. I bet there's nothing like greasy seal meat.

as long as the people in o.d.f.w. are getting paid for protecting the marine mammals youll see this kind of carings on.
dont try to cook a seal in the house the smell will kill you

I like the idea of the Sea Lion Dock. They will be easier to shoot that way. Not that I would ever shoot one images/icons/grin.gif

A) ODFW does not get paid to protect sea lions, there is something called a FEDERAL LAW that says they, and everybody else, HAS to protect them.
B) I believe the dock is there for purposes of REMOVING the sea lions, not for their enjoyment and recreation.
Keep in mind that most ODFW employees are also anglers and probably don't like sea lions any more than you do.
