View Full Version : Willamette Falls Counts!!!!!!!

Did anyone happen to see the counts at the Falls? The last couple of days shown have finally been showing some great numbers. Friday the 20th - 1,815 fish, and Saturday the 21st - 1,206 fish. With these kind of numbers, is anyone doing any good in the upper Willamette or in the North or South Santiams yet? It shouldn't be long!

I have been morning fishing the deadline below the falls and seeing next to nothing caught. I have been there from 6 to 7:30 almost every weekday. The most I have seen caught before 7:30 (when I leave) is 2 fish. It is probably a 1 fish average in the morning. Quite a few more boats showed up when the Columbia closed last week.
I didnt even set the alarm for this morning. Just couldnt see getting up early to go lose some more tackle and bring home a wounded pride, while thinking of the lucky ones on the Columbia.
The fish are there, just not biting when I am on the water.

You going to try the Columbia this weekend? Odds of connecting with that elusive fish are much better. If all goes right I will be out there Friday in the horde at Bonneville. I will catch that first big river Salmon! If you go this weekend I'd like to go with you and increase the chances of getting some feesh blood in your boat. Not sure what it is about the Willamette, fished it for many years without a bite yet. Dang things get Willamette lockjaw. images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/confused.gif

The bite above the falls is slow also. Looks like a repeat of last year. images/icons/frown.gif
Fished below the falls down to Mildrum several evenings and it has been very very very slow. Saw a few caught last night but nothing to brag about. I hope next week will be the week as I am on vacation.

Fished around Lebanon this morning on the South for 3 hours and never saw a fish caught (Five boats and several bankies -most looked to be focused on summers). Pulled shrimp, prawns, and backbounced...nothing doing. Water was up a bit from this weekend though.
I guess I'm just a bit anxious for the big ones... images/icons/confused.gif
