No - not on the boat - on the transom saver. I bought a transom saver about a month ago from Stevens Marine for my 250 hp Yamaha on my 23' North River. It worked excellent for about 6 trips but when I went to install it on Saturday it just kept on bending where the "pre-formed" bend in the steel is. I took it back to Stevens today and they kindly and promptly replaced the bent part with a new one. However, I'm afraid it will happen again and this is the only transom saver I've been able to find that fits my boat/trailer combo. It looks like it is made out of 3/4' square tubular steel and I'm thinking that a few steel bars about a foot long welded to each side of the piece with the bend in it would keep it from bending again. I've thought about just drilling the steel braces and bolting them on, but I'm afraid it will just weaken the steel where the drill holes are. Can anyone recommend a Portland area welder who would be willing to perform a very small project like this? It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Thanks for your help!

I think I saw somewhere where killertraylor was a lawyer. Gotta think about this for a minute.

Does anybody know what a lawyer at the bottom of the sea is called?

hmmmmm..... (pondering the welding)

hmmmmm.... (still thinking about the welding)

Hmmmmm...... I think my answer is

"a good start".

Drop me an email and I will see what I can do for you. Got a welder and all the welding credentials of "gus" at the corner garage. Rjackalope@aol.com

Thanks a lot, guys - and especially Bait O' Eggs, Blast and Cast and Josh who all e-mailed me at home. Thankfully a friend of mine who I had left a message with a few days ago when I first bent the part finally called me back and said he could take care of it.

I was hoping you'd all forget that lawyer part...too bad I don't know any welding jokes, Bait O' Eggs. Thanks again, guys - I sincerely appreciate your quick response and willingness to help - you've each earned 5 minutes of free legal advice images/icons/grin.gif
