They go hand in hand right? Just as long as you don't drink and drive. Anyway what's your favorite beer? Here is my top 10
1.Sol - A Mexican Brew that is smoother than Corona.
2.Tecate - Another cerveza mas fina
3.Rolling Rock - Pennsylvania beer
4.Widmer Hefeweizen - Love that sediment!
5.Corona - Those brewers down in Mexico really have their act together.
6.Heinken
7.Red Dog - When quantity is more important that quality.
8.MGD - The only brew at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival.
9.Henry's
10.Any beer you have in your fridge when I come over! images/icons/grin.gif
Okay there is my top 10 how about yours?

Here's my list of favorite beers:
- cold beer
- free beer
After that, its all just details. And if the fish are biting, I would even drink one or five if they were warm.

Since this is "Fishing and Beer" and not "Golfing and Beer" or "Bowling and Beer", I'll have to go with whatever comes in a can, is cheap, cold and comes in a large case. images/icons/wink.gif
Actually, Henry's is my favorite all around beer, but Miller High Life or MGD will do as well. I just can't do micro's in quantity any more........ images/icons/shocked.gif

Phish On and the Steelhead King have triangulated the full flavored beers I like. Here are a couple they missed:
Budvar, the Czech pilsen that's the original Budweiser (really). Tastes like Pilsner Urquell (which still gets my nod as the best beer, ever -- on tap at the Condor Club in SF, corner of Columbus Ave and Geary on the edge of an unsalubrious neighborhood)
Tiger Beer (Singapore): for people who like a lighter beer. Brewed in a JV with Heineken under supervision of a Heineken master brewer. Voted best beer in the world, 1998 and my local beer of choice.
Erdinger Weissbier (clear): An excellent German wheatbeer that puts most of the USWC versions to shame (as does Paulaner, BTW)
A few Alaska Ambers or Alaska Pales certainly taste good, too, after 12 or 14 hours on the river up North but I guess I wouldn't nominate them in any 'best of' competition.

Wow - I'm thirsty. I had to split my list.
Drinking 6 or more beers:
1. Coors light
2. Coors light with Spicy V-8
3. Bud (I'd drink this beer even if I didn't like it because the damn wazzup commercials are so funny)
4. Keystone light
5. Bud Light
Drinking less than 6 beers (yeah right...)
1. Black Butte Porter
2. Thomas Kemper Weizenberry
3. Bridgeport Coho Pacific
4. Red Hook
5. Guiness pints from the tap....in Ireland.

I'm tellin' you guys ya gotta try some of that Mexican beer. When your slammin down a burritto or some fajitas there is nothing like a Dos Equis,Tecate,Sol,Pacifica Clara or of course Corona. I would have put Nor'Wester on my list but I believe they went out of business.
Now here is the list of worst beer.
1.Brew 102-Without a doubt the absolute worst, cheapest beer ever made.
2.BEER-You remember that generic crap in the white can.
3.Strohs-Upset my stomach and that's hard to do.
4.Bohemian-Not far above Brew 102
5.Olympia-Is it me or is this beer green?
6.The stuff RT bought at that little store in Tillamook and took to Jennies.
7.My neighbors home brew that we used to sneak drinks from when I was a kid.
Remember you don't buy beer you just rent it

3. Definetly Pilsner Urquell
4. A fresh Beck's from Germany
5. Any beer from Germany

Animal Beer!! Only St Pauli girl has better containers.. whoops container. What about Lucky, Heidelberg (gernade container), Pabst, and the old standard Bold Bull.
ONLY DRINK THESE AFTER ICED COLD AND YOUR NOSE IS PLUGGED
Some Corona and a lime will do me just fine to get the beers rolling. Molson or was it Labatts on tap is a fine brew when served by girls wearing feathers. some things are better left a little fuzzy.
Hey TM, I knew someone would remeber.
My dad had an old fishing buddy that drank BUCKHORN...nasty.. almost as bad a "BEER" in the white and black can.

Bigstew-
I cannot believe that Red Dog made your top 10 list. It is bilge. May I humbly suggest you try Red *Wolf* in its stead. Tasty enough to serve to company and cheap enough to offer to that beer-swillin' fishin' buddy.
BTW, top choice would be Widmere Summerbrau. Pity that it's seasonal.

Uh-oh, this one could go farther than the infamous Jet Boat post. I can't believe no one has said Zima yet. Ba-hah-ha-ha.
Pete's Summerbrew (when available), Hopjack (mmmmm.....hhooopppjaaaccckkk), Corona (if its hot out), Alaskan Amber, Pete's Strawberry Blonde (but only if their are women aboard), Fat Tire Ale, Coors Light - but only if its damned hot, I don't want a buzz, and excessive bladder evacuation is not a problem, Henry's Regular, Henry's Amber, and my all time absolutely favorite (top five at least) beverage -- Newcastle Nut Brown Ale. I'll wait a few minutes before posting the other 500 of my top ten beers.

4. Dad's
Those would be my top 4 beers.
Don't really drink much, never saw the pleasure in spending 1/2 the night puking.
I do occasional have a glass with dinner or a can out on the boat. McMenimans Ruby Ale is really good with one of their sandwiches or burgers.
A novelty beer I used to enjoy on occasion is Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer. It actually has a green chili pepper in the bottom of the bottle (I can't seem to find it around here anymore). The only bad thing was it had the tendancy to burn a bit the next morning.
Out on the boat on a hot day I have been known to pull down a couple of Coors lights.

With all of the Mexican beers listed, I can't believe no one listed my favorite...Carte Blanca. I love that stuff. Besides that one though, I'm sure glad I moved to this area. Makes all of the Widmer brews a LOT easier to find. Ever since being exposed to those, I don't think I've even touched a macrobrew. I don't drink much so I have to go for quality.

Other stuff I drink:

Not really something you would take fishing, but next time you are out and about, try a Frenwah(sp?). Its some kind of raspberry beer thingy. That's easy BigStew, it's Guinness, nitro. It is truly amazing to watch when you pour it in a glass with the cascade of bubbles going down instead of up. (they come back up in the middle.)
But the best beer I have had in a long time is called Arrogant ******* Ale. The motto is "you're not worthy". Extremely hoppy beer, high gravity (high alcohol), it will let you know you are drinking beer.

OK, I'll log in for this one. Bridgeport IPA, Widmere Hefe on tap and one that's really hard to find and may not even be made anymore is Red Hook Rye.... had an 8 gallon keg of that one weekend... seems to me that it was really good. Love the South Dakota Martini - any cheap beer, tomato juice (or V8) and green olives. A little tabasco if curing a hangover - next to fishing and f__(well, you know images/icons/wink.gif) beer is my favorite sport!

My choices
1> Scotch
2> Scotch
3> Scotch....Oops wrong list
Beer choices....this is Nehalem. My wife made the mistake of bringing out some high falutin beer to the contractor building our house. Nothing but ********. NO the name isn't buttwiper it's Budwieser.
Let me see,
Getting a call at 7:00 pm to help pull out an elk.....HAMMS,
Filleting a Nehalem sturgeon....HAMMS,
Contractor stops but to check on plans/specs/earthwork/or any construction....HAMMS,
Someone stops by to shoot the breeze, fish, or just see whats happening and checks the garage fridge (you don't have to be home for this to happen)....HAMMS
(or Ranier if there is no other choice.)
We know how to live. (As long as there are not a lot of people around us)
We just may not have any taste. (However I did know what can had the plastic ball in it)

Geez, I've been away from the computer too long. I missed this thread. Now it's old and no one will read it. Oh well. Big Stew, if you like Mexican beer, you have to try Negro Modelo. If you don't you will be depriving yourself of one of life's truly great pleasures. There is also a Phillipino version of it I believe.
By far the best ale I ever had was Cooper's, from Australia. Found it at a store in Eugene, once, but never found it anywhere again. I guess they didn't sell enough to keep importing it. Dang poor marketing job if you ask me. It's a fine brew.
Whatever brew I happen to be tinkering with from my fermenter is always good. Okay, sometimes its' great. I haven't been brewing too much lately, though. My toddler got ahold of and contaminated the yeast culture I had been carefully guarding in the refrigerator. It was pretty discouraging.
Pete's Wicked Ale, Guinness, Blue Heron, Widmer Hefeweizen, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Anchor Steam are my favorites. But I can't afford them too often, which is why I brew my own. Same quality, less money. When I run out, I usually resort to Milwaukie's Best. Go ahead and laugh. Are you done now? It's for sentimental reasons mainly, from when I was young, and poor, and out on a two week camping trip with my wife-to-be. We were towards the end of the trip, and we had five bucks left. We were near Brookings, having gone down to Southern California for my brother's wedding, then returned up the coast camping along the way. We had about a quarter tank of gas left, which may or may not have been enough to get home. I had to go to work the following evening. We were out of beer. Do we buy gas, to make sure we can make it home? Or do we buy beer? You guessed it, we bought beer, and the only one we had enough money for was Milwaukie's Best. We married the following year. Now, when I run out of homebrew, and don't want to put out the bucks for a micro, I get Milwaukie's Best, and blissfully remember with each sip the courtship of my wonderful wife, and the wonderful time we had camping in the redwoods. So go ahead and laugh. I don't care. images/icons/wink.gif
