From the better late than never department, a three day trip weekend before last yeilded unbelievabel fishing. A sunny Friday yeilded perhaps 20 fish up to 22 inches with most 12 - 14. A cloudy Saturday brought 30 to hand with a brief interuption by a violent windstorm as a front passed through. Last light had the holdovers in the shallows with a couple of pigs over 20 with beer guts to match. A half day Sunday was more of the same.
Air temperature in the 50's with a heavy frost at night. Water temperature 47 to 49 and up to 50 in the bays. Heavy Chronomid hatch under cloudy skies at 7 AM on Saturday.
Maroon tail stillwater nymphs in 12s and 14s were the ticket with a #6 olive bugger attractive to the holdovers.
A very memorable weekend. Fishing in the fall should be unbelievable with the number of 14-16 fish and growth rates. Unfortunately, the water is low and the same level as October. A summer kill may be in the ofting.
