Fern Ridge Reservoir
Bad, Horrible, and Worse could well title this, HOWEVER...
Sunny to Pt Cloudy Skies - near dark of moon
Water Temp - 50-51 degrees
Visibility - 26" (using standard secchi disk)
Winds northerly 5-15 mph
Depths Fished - 3' to 21'
Baits employed - Plastics, Jip/Pig, Spinner Baits, Crank Baits(yes, lip-less too),3 types of Gulps, Spinners, and even REAL Night Crawlers!
As poor as it was, this was my first experience on this body of water so I'll remain a fisherman and be optimistic! It's strange for me to say that as we spent 12 rod hours working very hard and going Zero for one, but it "appears" to be a hidden nest egg I'm just going to have to crack. There is a substantial amount of shoreline habitat which SCREAMS Bass from theslow tapered shorelines and grass beds to the standing timber. Water depths along the northern portion (Dam Area) we fished are relatively shallow for a western reservoir system, and as slowly tapering the shorelines are, it offers a vast area to the fish and we had only hours to find them.
BOATERS NOTE: Both public boat ramps on the southern section will REMAIN closed all this year, with only the the two on the extreme NORTH END available for boaters to launch. I'm not sure of private marinas at this time but will post more when confirmation is obtained. So if you want to fish the south end (as we wanted too..) it would be a long ride.
PS, princess, thx for the great lunch:food:
