I am going to a resort at Clear Lake CA next week and am bringing my rod. I was wondering if anyone had any tips I have never been there.
THANKS CODY

I have only fished in the north end of the lake and it was out of a float tube. So I didn't cover much water. Caught a few bass next to some docks and in the tule's, nothing of size for what's in there. Late evening with a live crawdad 4ft under a bobber you can catch some monster cats. Cut mackeral at night for cats also. I've broke off on 30lbs test before using mackeral there. I miss that place sometimes.

What Resort? I'm assuming Konocti Resort. I'll be staying in Lakeport next week also. Right now I'm hearing good reports on Swimbaits, Jigs, Senkos, Shakey worms, Jerkbaits. The bite is wide open right now the only thing that will hurt it is TONS of pressure right now. Good Luck:)

I was in clear lake at the same resort you are going to for spring break. Fishing has been really good down there but if you dont have a boat you really are limited because the lake is huge. THe fish feed primarily on shad. We had most success on a rapala slash bait, make sure it is the all white color. White jerk baits of any kind worked well as well as some white colored swim baits. The water should be warmer so fish them really irratic the fish bite. Here are a couple of pics to get you excited. Notice the white slash bait in the picture of my dad. Good luck.http://a476.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/4/l_b87a9213cedf22040b4659040684385b.jpghttp://a298.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/57/l_4cd471f865fe06e20b5be4e3372b2609.jpg

You can get lots of info on FishClearLake.com and the Lake County, California page. I might sugges thet you go to ********, click on Ask The Pros and ask away about the lake during the time you want to go.

I'm going down in June, so give us a report or PM to me with your opinion. Because this will be my first trip, I'm going to the expence, (about $200), for one day with a local guide. I figure that I'll learn more in eight hours than I would in eight trips. We'll be waiting for the report.

Good luck on your trip. It is supposed to rain on Saturday but by Monday it will be sunny and warmer down there. Things will really bust loose on the next warming trend. :smash: Look for a black Ranger 487Vs with OR stickers. Probably only be about a dozen like it on the lake that week.:jester:
