I may be needing a ride from Eugene to Tacoma/Olympia area in next week. I would help pay the gas if we can work something out. Might be interested in 1 may or round trip. Will not know until I get up there.

Any leads?

If nothing else comes up, try AMTRAK (http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak). One way from Eugene to Tacoma is $38.

WOW That's a bunch cheaper than the price of gas!

I was looking at that too. Fare I saw was $52-$58 north to Tacoma and closer to $38 on return. Still better than some gas. It does leave me at train depot but I might be able to catch a ride.

How is the ride for comfort and motion sickness? I don't do well in ocean and I doubt my son would either.

Not like the ocean at all. Train is fine. Better than car for motion sickness. Turns are milder, so are stops and starts.

The fares are variable. If you are flexible and can make a reservation a week or more out, you can get the $38 fare. Buy a ticket for tomorrow and it will be higher.

Good luck with your trip north.

I did that not too long ago when i bought a Truck down in the Vancouver WA area. It was nice to get on the Train and not worry about the Drive or the Gas. Your only problem will be getting from the Tacoma Train Station and where ever you are going.
