Hey guys (and gals), I've got a favor to ask.:help:
I have a friend that's moving out here from South Dakota who is an avid cat-fisherman (is that a word?) and would like to know what his prospects are here in the great northwest. I, however, am not a cat-fisherwoman and I honestly don't even know if there is any good catfishing in Oregon or Washington.
So, if ya'll could let me know if it's worth trying, and some ideas of where to try, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for all your help!

I have chased cat-fish down yet. I have heard Lacamas Lake has a few big ones in it. Which is just up the hill from Camas. Also heard Vancouver Lake also has them. Might just have to find out. :smash:

when i lived back east in north carolina the catfishing was awesome. but here in washington and oregon it seems all i have seen is tiny guys. maybe im wrong though. i did see a ten pounder come out of green lake which is ok i guess but nothing like back east!

A Few years back they got several 7+ pounders out of Kress I believe they have channels but not sure. There are also some cats in silver but i think they are dinks, I know the Columbia has some but i dont know where to catch them i caught a nice one accidentally while fishing for Pikeminnow. most lakes have them and you can get them people just dont realize they are in there, and they tend to be small. Try lakes that are not heavily fished for trout cause they hit the trout fishers powerbait n worms and get caught out so will be in smaller numbers. Good luck

Fern Ridge Res. in your neck of the woods has lots of cats. Sodo most of the Willamette sloughs and backwaters, as well as most of the ponds around Corvallis.

The Willy has some big cats in it! Just nobody really fishes for them. Find a slough or backwater, get some beef liver and your good to go.

Even some of the smaller ponds in the valley have some ok sized Cats in it. St Louis Ponds and Woodburn Ponds are two of them...

Do you have any more info about Tualatin cats? Me and my buddy fished it at least 2 dozen times last year, most of the time till late at night, and all we'd get is sucker and squaw fish on the bottom with an occasional bullhead.
