Hey everyone I hope your latest fishing adventures have been memorable experiances. I was wondering where abouts in Oregon I can do some bass fishing? Small or Largemouth it doesn't matter preferably around Salem considering I am a poor college student and can't afford to pay gas to go to far, but I do have a car so I can travel a little bit.
Thanks:bowdown:

Hey, welcome to I-Fish! I am mostly an observer on this board, but thought I would say hello to a fellow from Salem. There is actually plenty of water to fish for the green fish around here. The Willamette hold both small and largemouth bass, with lots of different sloughs to hold them, as well as the main river. I am just a bankie with a pontoon, so I don't cover a lot of water, but I am learning from some of the more well versed how to catch them. Just don't let some of these pros on here get you all disgusted with their "hawg" pics! (Dave Smith, EX-BassPro, TheCrease, and many more........those guys are just plain lucky!) The more they fish the better they get? I have learned a little from all of them on here, as well as many others. Have fun.

Welcome! I'm in Albany. Clayton (TheCrease) often puts in just on the other side of the river from downtown Salem practically under the bridge. You can teach him how to fish smallmouth in the river almost any Wednesday or Thursday. He will probably offer you a ride before this thread gets burried because he is a real nice guy. Clayton catches real fish, not like Dave Smith who always carries a couple of different mounts with him to the lake so he can show off his great catches  or Ex-BassGuide who always holds his dinks real close to the camera and his head way far away so that those 7 inchers look like 7 pounders  .
(Actually, they are the best. Dave doesn't know how to catch a dink and EBG catches so many fish that if he didn't practice catch and release there would be no bass left for the rest of us and we would all be trout fisherman. :berry: )
This is a great place to be. Lots of friends are made.:yay:

Keen observation followed by close comparison of pictures; the fact that there are never any witnesses besides your own camera; the fact that nobody but nobody but nobody could possibly be as good a fisherman as you.

my tip is, if their is a pond with bluegills then fish it. you never know what swims down their. Thats how i found a few of my favorite bass hole. out of one pond i already caught 6 bass between 4 1/2 and 6 pounds out of 3 trips, and its a 3 acre pond.

Heh...
In one of my favorite lakes of all time (which for some reason over the past two years has gotten horrible), I remember hooking into a 5 inch bluegill, only to be devoured seconds later by a 6.5 pound bass. I actually landed both fish, took the better one home. I guess you call that a meal, for a meal, for a meal (the worm for the bluegill, the bluegill for the bass, the bass for me)? He was tasty.
I have also seen a baby duck get devoured by a HUGE largemouth. Sad, but true. He must have been full afterwards, because I couldn't get him to bite anything in my box.

Laramy, Welcome! Just watch here and you figure out real quick who can help ya out. Several Salem bass fishers on here. Just pop'em a PM and ask for help. In the meantime, grab your rod and hit the river and any small pond you can find. Use http://www.boatescape.com to find bodies of water and go exploering.
Good luck,
