Drive down hiway 6 until you get to Jones Creek and start fishing everywhere. Jigs, drift gear. Most important thing is do it.

If you are fishing from the bank, there is access all along the river from Jones Creek bridge down to tide water. This time of year there are native Steelhead spread throughout the river with a few hatchery fish sprinkled in. Depending on water flow and your method of fishing, either the convential drift fishing tactics or fishing jigs under a float is a good way to get into fish. If you want more information call the Guide Shop at 503-842-3474. They are located at Mile 5.5 on the river.

two other tips:
1) Look for cars at turnouts on Hwy 6 below Jones creek Feb-April weekends. A lot of times they are there for a reason (theres a fishing hole at many of the turnouts).

2) Get the Fishing in Oregon book (Sheehan)- under Wilson river it has a rough map with most of the major holes and public access points. Guide Shop is a good place early in the year - there are a lot of bankers, but you'll learn where to go by talking to 'em.
