Do we fish to escape reality? Do we fish to compete with other fisherman? Do we fish to create memories with loved ones? Do we fish to see if we are smarter than the fish? Do we fish to find a little spot of joy in a complex world? Do we fish to be with friends or make friends? Do we fish to strive to catch the big one for fame? Do we fish with other people to share in a sport we love? Do we fish because it’s something about the unknown of what can be caught?Do we fish to relax?Do we fish so we can brag?Do we fish because it keeps us away from bad vice’s.Do we fish because you can do it alone and never be lonely?Do we fish because you can admire your catch and then let it go to live another day and maybe get it again? Is the joy the same for a 5 year old kid who catch’s a fish on a worm a stick , a line,a hook, and 45 year old who has all the modern 07 tackle? Too many Do’s. Make the time and go out and enjoy this great state & country we live in.Man those recieve a lot of pressure from us.

Testament of a Fisherman
I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly; because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape; because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because I suspect that men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don't want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters; because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness; because bourbon out of an old tin cup always tastes better out there; because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid; and, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly so much fun. -John Voelker (Robert Traver )

I fish because its a great escape from any pressures i have in life: job, bills, work.Anything that could cause stress. plus i like being able to help others especially younger people how to share this great stress relief. for instance i just got my younger brother to go fishing with me this weekend and he caught his first fish!

I didn't know you were such a philosopher. The answer is that we fish because we can

Because it's natural. In Genesis, God commanded man to subdue creation and mentioned fish specifically. Genesis 1:28

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
