I'll be up at Maryhill/Rufus tomorrow fishing for eyes. Anyone else going to be there?

It was dead slow saturday. Dam is releasing a lot of water. Only saw one caught.

Yep was up there Sunday myself and it was DEAD...with a capital D!

Put in a Rufus and stayed up above Maryhill. Hit all my normal spots..NADT.
Several boats on the water pounding the WA side...only heard of one 9am fish. (A white NR...congrats whoever you are!)
Touchett even had a scratch day. Saw a big 24-26' Duckworth hard top w/ guide sticker jigging all day in the same spot....never seen the net come out. Man they must've been jigging 2oz blade baits!

High wind, white caps all day. Water temp 44F on my machine. Still lots of flow.
It was hard to go as slow as I wanted with the current...and the wind!
Had the run the bowmount HARD all day. Chewed through two Trojan 225's real fast.
Focused on 20-30ft water with ventures into 15ft. Didn't really mark many fish to speak of.

Fish Mojo, If only you'd posted up when ya got back it would've saved me a trip up Sunday.
Could you PM me your contact info again....better yet email me. (email addy in profile)
(Lost all my old contacts in the Ifish software change)
I would've called ya Sat night for a report. Heck I would've even hitched a ride......
twiddled my thumbs Sat primping on the boat while waiting for rain showers to subside.

Looking at maybe going back up again 4/7 but something has to change otherwise I'm afraid it will be a repeat of last weekend.

Can't find data on the John Day Dam, but here's a link to The Dalles Dam: <click here for data> (http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?cb_00060=on&cb_00065=on&cb_00055=on&cb_00010=on&cb_00025=on&cb_81903=on&format=html&period=30&site_no=14105700) I'm sure it's similar data.
Water temp is nearly as high as it's been so far this year, pools look full.....real full. Flow is increasing and I suspect it will not decrease much.
Not looking good flow wise. Hard to catch fish when they are not where you expect them.
Hummm....

They are probably trying to lower all the reservoir levels to have room for the snowmelt when it starts coming down in May an June.

Might be an idea to start exploring some water further downstream of the dams.

Just talked to the step dad and the weather is great but the fishing is real bad. Lots of water over the JD dam.

We pounded it hard today. Not a bite. Talked to two other boats that had one fish each and saw nothing else going on. One guy that caught one said she had already spawned.

The dam had four gates open which didn't seem too bad. Someone told they had been releasing much more water last few days.

Sunny day no wind.

Hey Guys
I know that fishery pretty well. I have fished with Touche (FlyByNyte Guide Service) for Sturgeon, Walleye, Bass, and even Steelhead since I was about eight years old (I'm 17, fyi). He is an amazing guide, and if you ever want to get a guide who knows what he is doing, he is THE MAN for the job. Plus, he has a knack for putting fish in the boat ;-)
D'you think the water up there is warm enough for bass yet?
I'd like to be kept informed on when the temp is right.
He is the reason for the picture in my Avatar. :-)

Hey Bruce, how'd it go up there last weekend? Did Sat improve at all?
Has anyone been up there during the week? How's the flow? Still high

Looking at this weekend 4/14, but not unless flows drop.

A friend of mine went back up and did not get a fish. He said the water was still rushing and no one was catching. This was over a week ago. Did anyone hit it this last weekend? I would like to make the trip, but do not want to burn the gas to get up there if the fish are not biting.

Don't know about walleye bite but they were letting water out through every gate at McNary and water was low so they must me doing the same below, current was ripping.
