Doug has made Bass his lifelong ambition, and you are how old?
Best listen to what he has to say.

I don't think age is a valid indication of what one knows or doesn't know on a particular subject. Doug definitely knows his stuff, but just because one doesn't agree with it doesn't make you wrong. Half the times his advice is "drag a snake from the shore".

It`s OK to disagree, but the knowledge Doug Hannon has is not to be taken lightly. When you watch a video, obviously the conditions were right at the time. How many times have you caught a bass and scratched your head and said, "What was that bass doing there this time of the day"? Or while picking out a backlash you picked up your slack and there was a fish. Or, in the middle of the summer seen a big bass cruising the shallows in the middle of the day in bright sunlight. I learned from an elderly Gentleman buy the name of Dick Abodeely:bowdown: [Rest his soul] who actually mentored Gary Klein. He always said that there is one thing you can always predict with bass, "There unpredictability"!
Also, age has everything to do with it, or should I have said experience.

Of the thousand or so bass I've caught the last 20 years, the ones I see during the day have done the strangest things. Just today, I was fishing Lake Selmac (for lake of time and better conditions at other lakes I'd rather fish) from the shore and wondered what was causing a disturbance in 6 inches of water right up on the bank. It was about a 3lb bass looking for frogs? No frogs around. No other bait either. I couldn't get bit all morning and at noon, here's this lost fish that scooted off to deeper water when it saw me.

crepuscular...of, pertaining to, or resembling twilight; dim; indistinct. FYI.
I've never been a big fan of The Bass Professor. For one thing, I'm not sure he has any kind of degree. And I think he can develop some different notions in Florida, on Florida strain LM, that won't apply to Northern LM, SM, or Spots. If he's gonna be The Bass Professor, he should know all about all the varieties, not just Florida LM. C&R, Steve

you just said what i wanted to say before....... i grew up fishing for florida strain, and believe me its hard to learn northerns compared to floridas. all the same techs dont apply at all times. if you go to the bps forum and talk to people there they will tell you that a 3/0 hook is way to small. well they are fishing for florida strains, which could be a monster.i use mostly a 3/0 hook or smaller with alot lighter line. there is actually a bass professor on bps forum that gets alot of crap cause they dont agree with him. i wish he would come to this board he has alot of great info on northern and colderwater bass fishing

Interesting stuff on his videos.
Interesting bit on the schooling big fish. I think it also applies to smallies as well.
As a kid my brother and I had masks and fish and would dive for fishing gear in the Snake River. We would see these schools of big smallies just crusing in wolf packs. They seemed very unafraid of us and we could literally swim within feet of them. Very cool to see a dozen or more 2-4lb smallies up that close under water.
If anyone has ever fished the Hells Pool at Copperfield CG...Pine Creek comes in right there. These big smallies would come up into the mouth there and cruise. The biggest smallie I ever caught was on hoppers drifted on the seam line just below where the creek dumps in. Lost a monster there that I swear would've gone 6+. Huge fish.
