Had a great time this morning!
During the Steelheaders annual auction and banquet I had the pleasure of visiting with Nick Amato of STS.
He is a jig enthusiast, and the topic at the dinner table was heavily feathered.
I mentioned our very own Wilson River Wizard and he wanted to join him for an outing.
Today was the day we all tied together.
The fishing wasn't hot, but it sure was a heck of alot of fun.
We fished several of Marks favorite holes. The scenery was incredible and the fresh air was good for us all.
Mark hooked into a nice bright buck at the first hole.
Nick hooked into a bigger fish later, and we got some nice pictures.
Later, Marks rod went down with a hot one that shot out of the air with huge force! WOW! I love those fish!
Yep, Spring Chinook is fun, but folks, there are many opportunities passing you by if you forget about steelheading on the North Coast.
Make sure you read your regs before you leave home.
Contact Stlhdr for more information, or post a question for him here.
He is a very helpful person, and has helped many folks on the board get into jig fishing.
I, for one, would like to thank you Mark!
Nick Amato is a great guy, an excellent fishermen, and a wealth of knowledge.
I picked his brain a bit about various issues concerning our fisheries.
I love his attitude.
I get the distinct feeling that although he cares deeply about political issues, that we can choose to be thankful for the fine opportunities that we have fishing, or spend our time bent and upset over what we don't have.
Amen!
Go fishing! Wheeeeee!
