Im headed back home for 3 or 4 days this spring break (next week) and am looking to do some fly fishing. I have 4 wt, 6 wt, and 8 wt fly rods and would like to put them to work. Any information on where to head would be great. I'll be in Bend and can fish any river in Central Oregon. I probably wont be fishing the lakes because I wont have my float tube yet. Thanks guys

Based on most of the reports I've read recently, no one's catching trout.
the DesChutes is currently high (maybe it'll drop)
the Crooked hasn't seen more than a few trout caught in months
I'd check the water levels on Westfly (as well as checking out their frequent & thorough fishing reports)
Later,
Peter

Fall River should be fishing well during spring break. It can get pretty crowded with folks vacationing in Sunriver so try to find a spot where you have to walk in a little bit. There should be decent midday hatches of blue winged olives or midges.
Could also try the Metolius for both trout or Bull Trout.

The D below Benham Falls might be worth a look.

The D is closed above Benham Falls and has been kind of slow below. March browns and Small Black Stoneflies should start showing with the warm weather we've had. We fished below Dillion Falls last week and it was slow. there were 4 other boats out and they had only hooked a couple of fish between them.
The river is pretty high as they are moving excess water downstream to Lake Billy Chinook before the irrigation season starts next month. After irrigation starts, the upper river (above Bend) gets really high and the lower river (between Bend and LBC) disappears. Literally. In an average year the flow will drop from around 900 CFS to 30-50 CFS below the diversion on the north side of Bend. Would be one heck of a fishery if it didn't get so hammered by irrigation manipulations.
The river below the Pelton complex (Warm Springs) downstream to the northern border of the Warm Springs Reservation (just downstream of North Junction at Dixon) is closed until the regular trout opener in April.

You can fish the metolius, fall river, crooked, and down at maupin. Reports have been good at maupin. Fly shops recommend maupin.

I will be over in Central Oregon for Spring Break as well, at Eagle Crest. Sounds like the Middle D, might be a little high to fish?
If anyone is making the trek over to the Met or Crooked and don't mind sliding by and picking me up, I can't take our only vehicle, I would be very interested and will be more than happy to help with gas and beer....

Just about exactly 100 miles east of Bend, but the fish are getting pretty chunky. Should be back to it's old self by fall if nobody puts, goldfish, bass, bluegills, brown bullheads, crappie, chubs, etc in it....

S&L,
It's had water in it for a change so the fish are getting big again. Big coveys of birds this fall as well, not that I had time to chase them...
I haven't been posting as much since I haven't been fishing. Work can really get in the way of a trout/steelhead bum. :) Going to try to remedy that this year.

Chickahominy report: 3 hours of fishing, 3 fish. 2@14 and 1@20. The 20" was really fun with 4 good jumps and very strong. The trollers were catching fish at a much higher rate than me. I saw 3 elderly fellows with 15 fish in the same amount of time I was angling. I caught all three fish on 3 different flies. 1 on a leach, 1 on a zugbug, and one on a chronomid.

We Fished Chic on Saturday...
The fishing was epic. Between Michael and myself we landed 50+ fish with 10 over 20 inches.
buggers and chironimids both worked well.
