I need some help from the motor experts out there. I am a non-motorized drift boat guy, with no idea about the value of boat motors.

Just inherited a 2003 Mercury, 4-stroke, 5hp, manual start, long shaft motor. In mint condition. I has less than 10 hours. Looks brand new. Also gas tank and fittings.

What is it worth? I may sell it. I may decide to keep it and become a motorized drift boat owner.

I see that Steven's Marine sells them new of about $1400.

Thanks, in advance, for your help. Drifter.

Priceless. Keep it and get your drifter registered. That little motor could turn your drifter into a much more versatile fishing machine than it already is.

I'm also selling a Nissan 5hp 4-stroke of the same age and the mom-in-law wants $800 too. Sounds like a fair price to me.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I just posted the motor for sale on the Boats and Tackle Classifieds as:

"Mint 2003 5HP Mercury Outboard 4-stroke LS with NIB Tank"

Thanks, again. Drifter.

I hope you don't regret selling your Mercury. I would not be w/o a kicker. Especially for Fall and Spring Nooks, not to mention anywhere else. Rowing is OK for drifting rivers, but a kicker makes a DB very versatile.:twocents:
