I was going to get the cobwebs off my sled this afternoon, I put it in the water and got about 10 yards from the ramp and the buzzer started sounding!? I turned around and trailered it up. I thought that my tank was low on oil so I added 2 quarts and still ended up with the same results:shrug::shrug: It is a mid 80s Mercury BlackMax 150 with a pump. It has an oil reservoir on the floor that holds a couple gallons of oil and then the reservoir on the motor itself. They both seem to have plenty of oil in them. Has anyone had this problem before? What did you do? This is the first problem like this since the boat was new that I am aware of, so please don't say premix the oil and gas, thats not what I'm after and would be a hassle since I have a 4stroke kicker that runs off the same tank.

My brother in law had this problem it turned out to be the sensor wire grounded. This may not be your problem, Hopefully it will be something simple. Good luck

Whenever I run my main tank out of oil-- which I seem to do about once a year or so-- I need to top up the small tank on the motor itself or else the alarm continues to go off.

If it's intermittant check the engine reservoir, it should be full to the top. If it's solid beep then check the water pump operation.
