I'm shopping for a motor for my new inflatable dinghy. Achilles 7'7" at 60 #s. I need a lightweight motor that offers a twist-grip throttle. I don't want the throttle on the motor housing. That means a Suzuki 2.5 @ 30# ($700 @ Siglers-6 year warranty promotion). Yamaha 2.5 @ 37# ($805 @ Clemens). Honda 2 @ 28# ($849 @ St. Johns), or Tohatsu 3.5 @ 41# ($892 @ NW. Inflatable) . The fact that these are all four-strokes is coincidental. They are the only ones that have the throttle where I want it. I've owned Johnson, Mercury, and Yamaha outboards and never had a problem with any of them. My Arctic-Cat has a 118 horse Suzuki twin that's given me 12 years of faithful service. I want to select the best motor for this application w/o regard to brand. Equally important, I want a friendly and helpful dealer who I can go to if my motor has a problem. I don't want "Dealer Grief" ! Going strictly by the numbers the Suzuki offers the best value. BUT, there are only 2 dealers that serve Portland. Siglers and Sportcraft. Sportcraft wants $799. I welcome your suggestions on the Suzuki in general and Siglers in particular. ARE THEY REPUTABLE DEALER? Your helpful advice may well save me alot of grief down the road. Thanks !

Honda is the engine I would buy. Haven't heard anything bad about their dealers and they are quiet a few places they can be purchased. It really adds up to how you maintain the engine after you get it and use it as to how it will last and stand up over time. Not so much on what make or model it is. They are all good engines.

Good Luck;
