Hi,
Never have been to LBC and am trying to find a path on my Oregon Road and Recreation Atlas. There are some roads north of Sisters shown in this atlas as 'unpaved.' 900 out of Camp Polk (looks like it turns into 63) Grandview Loop Road and 2050 (turns into 2055). Anyone have experience on any of these this time of year? I'm thinking of heading up there around the 24th with my camper and boat to spend some time at Cove Palisades.
Thanks in advance,
DB

The unpaved road can be bad this time of year with mud.Although this year has been drier in the lower elevations. If you have a small boat and have no problem with driving on dirt roads for several miles it would be the shortest way to get to the Perry South Launch. If your boat is larger then you will want to launc at Cove Palisades or the Deschutes launch. To get to the 2 last mentioned launches. When in Sisters and heading out of town take hwy 126 to Redmond. Then north on 97 to the Culver turnoff. Follow signs to Cove Palisades

I just drove that road this weekend, it was in pretty good condition. That said, I'd never in my life tow a boat on that road. That road only saves you time if you can drive reasonably fast. If you are towing a boat, I'd really suggest going all the way around through Culver.

If your towing a boat stick to the main paved routes.

If your going to stay at Cove Palisades, I would go through Sisters and Redmond to Culver. If going to Perry South CG, which I like, I go through Indian Ford. It's 11 mile of paved road, then turns into 22 miles of gravel. It takes about an hour for the drive. I do have a smaller aluminum boat, but I have friend's that take there 19' sleds that way too. Some people drive to Cove Palisades, launch there boat and then drive to Perry South while there buddy drives the boat to the campground.
