Decided to head out today after a no go on sunday after trolling 5 hours with not even a nibble. Took the lawn chair and powerbait, moved several times, tried every color I had and only managed two bites that would not stick. Does anybody have an idea why these fish wont bite, seems like the water has good color and temp thought maybe I could manage a stringer full. If anybody has any helpful hints let me know I am open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance
WW
Last weekend there were some huge fish caught ... I saw at least one lunker picture here on Ifish and had a friend tell me about a different one. Both reports suggested the fish were suspended in areas where people don't normally fish, instead of the usual "go to" spots. They're there ... good thing hunting them down is so much fun!

My wife and I were out yesterday afternoon. No bites, but most the fish I marked on the FF were around 21 to 23 feet. We did get to test out our new raingear, and it worked great!

I went out last Saturday with the boat and trolled for about an hour and no bite either, ran into motor issues and packed it up. Came back sunday with the lawn chairs and the boy and limited, small fish, but i had the ultra lite gear so it was still fun. The key from the banks was (and I got it from the guy fishing just down from me..............................."small bait." wait on the hook set too. hope it helps

I checked my records for early season Hagg lake trips. My son and I do a lot of trips but don't normally start until the 3rd week of March. This time of year I troll rainbow trout needlefish with a single split shot 3 feet up the line, 30 pulls at 2 mph (faster than most). I troll from the ramp towards the dam staying 50 yards offshore.
As the summer wears on I add more lead/pulls. I rarely add flashers at Hagg Lake.

I got the urge last Sunday too. Against my better judgement I went trolling with my little Porta-Boat. My excuse for not catching fish is that it was really just a shake-down run. I just happened to have a line out. I'm more concerned with tuning the motor, making sure there's no major leaks, ummm...do I need new batteries in the Fishfinder...you get the picture. :jester:
Every year, it seems like I succumb to the same urge to go out opening day, and every year I don'ta do so good.
Still is fun though, and I think to myself it's not a total waste of time. Beats being at the office. :yay:
Water temps need to warm up just a tad before they get the urge to chase. I just don't have the patience to still fish, but that seems to be the way to get them right now.

Went to Hagg on Saturday, the bite was hot, trolling Wedding rings. Running shallow though. Got our limit and left. I tried orange and brass early not much luck. I changed to pink and chrome, and started getting bites.
