Well, got to try out the new Washington Dept of Fish & Wildlife licensing system tonight. What a joke!!! My license was issued without problems, but I needed a catch record for my 13 year old son. On the first attempt, they spelled his name wrong, no problem says the clerk, we will print a proper one. WRONG!!! Printed a catch record validation sticker with his name spelled correctly, but the sticker stated it was not valid for sturgeon or steelhead. It was listed as catch record #2. I pointed out that this was not going to work, so again, "NO PROBLEM" and out comes catch record #3, again not valid for sturgeon or steel, but with the name spelled correctly. Now, after many minutes of consultation with another clerk, I am told sorry, that is the way it is, your soon will just need to take the catch record and not fish for sturgeon or steelhead, because once we issue the record, we can't change it. In other words, they can'f fix their screw-ups!! Well, as you can imagine, I was not real happy and insisted on taking the first catch record with the wrong name. If we get checked, hope the gamey understands. All this took 45 minutes and I was charged a "transaction fee" by the State to pay for this "new and better" system.
