I have 16' north river revenge and would like to put a pump on it to run the lewis river by my house. Im torn on what sized pump will actually work for this. Ive looked at all types, cost is an issue but I dont want to get something that is too underpowered for this boat. Its seems that a 60/40 hp pump would push it good but what about a 50hp powerhead or even a 40hp powerhead. I would like to hear from people that actaully have these smaller motors and if they do good and on what size boats. Please ask questions if you have any.
Thanks

I have a friend who has a 17 ft'f and has the 90/65 and wishes he had more power and he runs the Lewis al the time. I'm not saying its not enough but when the water gets real low you need that extra power to make it through tough spots and getting up on plane within less than 2 boat lengths is important . Did'nt you used to live in Hockison? I have a 40 HP prop on a 16ft SmokerCraft Lodge and sometimes wish I has just a little more too

I have had a 60/40, and a 90/65, both on a simular boat. The 60/40 is fine with 2 people but the 90/65 is the minimum i would ever buy again. Not a huge difference but with 3 people and lots of gear works much better and uses about the same fuel and will plane much quicker.

I don't think you'll be happy with 60/40 on it, go with a 90/60.
