I posted this on the Ifish main discussion board with no results so I thought I would repost here!

Is anyone out there using a Moor sub-troll 900, Cannon speed and temp monitor or a Fish Hawk 840 to find temp breaks or get proper lure speed? How do you like it? Have you noticed increased catch rates since using one? Just looking for some opinions, I have done some searches on the internet and it seems there are a lot of people that use them in the great lakes region. I am just wondering about how applicable using one would be here!

I've only been in one boat that had one. It was an interesting toy but not something I found particulary useful. The speed indicators are paddle wheels so they vary a lot. The temp was good but in our case we were fishing kokes and we kept catching them outside the "best" temp range. In my boat I use my fishfinder to tell me how deep to start with. If I am seeing kokes or trout at a certain depth, it doesn't matter to me what the temp is.
