Boy I haven't seen so many boats out on LBC since last spring when the Metolius was open. Probably 30 or more boats out there, everybody was waiting for that nice 60 degree weather. I'm used to 5-10 boats on a winter weekend.
Things are still pretty slow. Never saw anyone elses nets fly all day. The bull trout don't seem to like my new downrigger much. Elklaker was using my old downrigger on the port side and he got 4 bites, 2 to the boat including this guy.

Just FYI, I put braid on my old downrigger and it outfished me 2nd time in a row. I was gonna wait a few more trips to put braid on the new one but it kills me to be outfished on the downriggers in my boat, it never happens. So I switched out the steel and put braid on the new one. I bought the expensive Scotty 250 lb test stuff from Englunds.
It will be an experiment to see if my catch rate improves. I wanted to run 1 of each for about 6 trips but the new Cannon downriggers have new mounting plates and are not interchangeable with the old ones. I am a generous captain but I am using the new downrigger not my fishing partners.........:berry:

I was out there today (sunday) and there were a ton of people fishing.... I never got a hit or noticed anybody else with fish. Glad to see someone caught some.

Nice fish.

We caught one 25" Bull on Saturday. Fought the darn wind all day and were on last pass heading east and caught one at about 2 PM at 65' with downrigger. :smash:

Wife got excited and made me drag her line around the lake for another hour and a half.

Joe,

Will the auto stop on your new electric downrigger still work with the braid?
