I recently lost the top half of a GL3. Ill send a golf shirt to the first person who guesses how this happened.
Anyway, I called Loomis and they are going to overnite me a brand new rod. All I have to do is send back the butt, in the tube the new rod comes in. They are only charging me 50.00.
I thought this was to good to be true, but certainly did not argue.

I'm giving this one a shot. Lost top half, well I'm going to say you had a spinning rod. The top half wasn't tightened down well. You got hooked on some bad snag. The top half of your rod popped off, and slid down the line towards the hook. You broke your line, and so you lost the upper part.
Yes I am psychic.
That will be a Large. Navy Blue or Maroon if you got it. images/icons/grin.gif

OK, my turn. You stepped on it in your boat and broke it. After looking around you dumped it overboard and now PRETEND you lost it images/icons/smile.gif

I know how it happened.
You were fishing with Marie's shrimp oil and it slipped out-a-your hands when a bigger than normal fish hit your lure!
What a way to go!

Don't tell me,
You were making a cast when all of a sudden a Western Yellow Tailed Whatzadoozle swooped down and grabbed the tip of your rod. You pulled out your 9 mm, drew a bead on him, pulled the trigger. Click....... "Ah $%%@%#!!. No bullets. As you watched your rod fly away, a Bald Eagle wearing a toupe -(Sorry RT)- Snatched the Whatzadoodle out of mid air and the rod tip dropped and landed square in the middle of a large tar pit. images/icons/shocked.gif
Am I even close. If so XXL in Hot Pink with the little alligator on the chest.

Well I have to tell you all that the new "Loomis"shimano-rods arent worth a cent. images/icons/frown.gif I was up at Shoufes(sp)rod supply the other day and looked at the blanks they had and they were from the new folks THEY SUCK to say it mildly. All the equipment is gone they are taking it across seas and they have layed off almost all of the people that use to work there. The rods looked like a snake and are all wavey with bumps all over them. They are not made of the same material that they were before they sold out.One of the people that worked for Loomis that was layed off is now making blanks of the same material that Loomis did and they look sweeeet. They are going to have the same #'s on his rods as Loomis. So they will be easy to identify. My suggestion would be DO NOTbuy a "Loomis"shimano rod unless it is one of the ones made a year ago.As soon as I find out when the guy is gonna start putting out more for people to buy I will post a note...TM images/icons/grin.gif

Ok Tanner you talked me into it.
I was at the Rivermill Dam throwing shrimp with my casting rod.
Had my bobber rod with me to try out those jigs you tied for me.
On one of my casts, I latched on to the top half of the bobber rod that was lying on the bank next to my vest.
I heaved that thing half way across the river
Thought it was a stick at first. Then I looked back at a lonely buttt section of a GL3. I was almost to sick to keep fishing.

This brings a story to mind for y'all that don't have to deal with bulls when you go fishing. Myself, and 2 of my buddies were going to fish this farmer's land one day while skipping school. We knew it was a nice place to fish, but we've heard the horror stories of the bull that patrols that area and drinks from this small pond.
Well all looked good as the herd was in the next field so we thought we were in the clear. My buddy Jamie just bought himself a brand-new spinning rod and was using it when I looked over my shoulder after landing a bass. Yep, there was Mr. BA (as he's called). I didn't even say a word, I packed my shiat in high gear and when sprinting for the gate. Poor Jamie was hung out on a stump and when he went to pull his line, the top half of his rod popped off down the line. The bull was in full sprint so Jamie yanked back and broke his line, thus losing his top-half of the rod. The bull came charging at all 3 of us and Jamie dropped his tackle box. Well I stopped to grab it 10 yards from the gate and hurdled the gate just in time to hear a "car crashing" sound into the gate. That bull planted his head directly center of that gate. We never went back to fish there images/icons/tongue.gif The butt-section of that rod is a trophy for us, as we were the ones that got away on that fishing trip.

Timberman, I ordered two rods through FMO two months ago and they looked just like the rods that i've been buying for years other than they have fuji guides and seats now. I wonder if those were actually loomis blanks you were looking at or maybe seconds although I heard they don't release seconds... Joe images/icons/confused.gif

Salmonator-That was 2 months ago when they had some left..Bet if you ordered two rods now you might get a big suprise..No they were not seconds.D&E rods in battleground have a few good ones left but after that its going to be all junk from what I have heard. The fellow that I spoke with has always been upfront with me. He wouldnt reveal the name of the guy that is going to start putting out the rods I spoke about earlier. We will just have to wait and see!!TM

You and your buddy were fishing when he cast over your line and it ticked you off for crowding you. After a few choice words that only friends can get away with your buddy called you a */-!@#$% and that crossed the line. Next thing you find yourself in a full fledged sword fight using a GL3 as a sword. This fight would make Hagar the Horrible jealous. Well you went for a de-heading move and connecting the ferrule up along side his neck. The top half flew out of the bottom half and went out into the water. You could have been able to get to it before it sank, but you were afraid to turn your back on your buddy for fear of his pole being ran up your .....hmmm ..... well, lets say you didnt turn your back, and the top half sank.
you can send the petite sized pink chiffon golf shirt to fishbait. images/icons/shocked.gif

Loomis is going through a transition this week. They have put a hold on all of their blanks sales for the next 90 days. AT the end of the 90 days they will only be selling appox. 125 different models as blanks. They have also cut back on the number of distrib. that they are using, I think they have 5 now.
As for quality... well, most of their rods are great, but we got a bunch in last week that weren't. I don't know if they were sitting in the dist. bins to long or what?
There is a new blank on the market that will compete with Loomis in the near future. RAINSHADOW.... made up on the OP I believe
I have been very impressed with the Rainshadow blank, very straight, look and feels like a GL3 for about 1/2 the price. These blanks also have a very good warranty, similar to Loomis, A minimual fee for a new rod.
We are currently waiting, with baited breath, to see what the 90 days holds for Loomis. I have all the confidence that they will again start producing a great product and providing a good service to their customers. If not, I will fish RAINSHADOW rods. images/icons/grin.gif

Smokey. I'm still waiting for my golf shirts. XL by the way. I have been to Loomis and they gladly replaced one of my rods free of charge when it broke. I love the light weight rod not too mention really appreciate good customer service. I heard one guy on the board complain about Lamiglas. I hope I don't ever have any treble with my Lamiglas Salmon rods.
Be cool
