Just read a article of some of the practices of salmon farms in Europe. I am sure they have some similiar practices here.

Marty, I am not so sure that it's done the same in this region. I don't know the facts, but I do know a few things that should be considered. ... The FDA and the Canadian counterpart are much more restrictive in what they will allow in food growth and processing in this country and BC. The other thing is that the hatchery and wild salmon and steelhead are subjected to much polution and disease in most of our NW watersheds anyway. So which fish are the safest to eat? The more regulated farm grown fish from this region, given anti-biotics too, or the stream and ocean grown ones with a myriad of polutants in them? ... If you want to get rid of the majority of these bad things before eating fish just cut away all the dark fat along the sides of the fish, and only eat the meat. This dark fat is where most of a fish's toxins are stored. ... BTW, B.C. farm chinook are flatout great tasting and textured fish! Yum!!!!!! - RT

I thought you only had to worry about the beef in Europe. What's next, Mad Fish Disease?
